Would Sending My Kids Out In Gas Masks Be Bad??

This whole flu bug/H1N1 thing has me panicking. I'm not so much worried about me and Carson catching it because we are pretty much home most of the time. It's the other four people in the household that has me worried. Caitlyn and Colton are both at the high school which has a gazillion kids and Chandler at the middle school makes me wonder what the odds are that one of them will bring it home. Not to mention Charles and all the people that filter in and out of his office.
I checked with the kids Dr. today and they have not received their shipment of shots. They don't want anyone calling their office either so now I have to check their website daily to see if and when they will receive the shots. In the meantime I have stocked up on anti-bacterial lotions and soaps and always carry wipes to wipe off carts and anything else the kids touch while we are out. I make them wash their hands a billion times as well. They are going to have permanent pruny skin! Better safe than sorry though.

lol I'm with you. I've become a germaphobe. I've been washing my hands constantly, making my son wash his, and I called everywhere to find out about flu shots (apparently seasonal flu shots are going to be limited since they're working more on H1N1 vaccines).

It's true. I almost feel like we have no way of making through to the spring without catching it. :(

I'm terrified of getting sick. Are you selling the gas masks for mass distribution because I want one? LOL

I hear that that's the best thing everyone can do. Always wash your hands!

My youngest has a cold, not the flu or swine flu, but a really bad cold. I'm hoping that will be the extent of illness here. I have a friend that works in the lab of our local hospital and she says they are testing lots of H1N1 positive people. So if it is the flu here, it's probably that. Oh joy, the year I have 2 in high school.

I managed to get Bath & Body Works anti-bacterial soaps when we drove over the border to Washington state this year... and now the kids can't get enough of washing their hands with the new soaps! Better safe than sorry, yeah.

Better to stock up on antibacterial stuff now. Once we really get into the flu season, that stuff will be hard to find! I saw a show on Sunday that indicated it is not the flu that really harms the kids it is the pneumonia that generally follows it.

I never leave home without my antibacterial hand sanitizer! I heard the other day though that if you use it more than three times in a row that the gel starts to build up on your hands and might actually attract germs so now I'm making sure that if we are out we go to a bathroom and wash with soap and water in between hand sanitizer washings!

Stay well!!
